The Rainbow Bridge
There is a bridge connecting heaven and earth. It is called the Rainbow Bridge because of its many colors. Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge, there is a land of meadows, hills, and valleys with lush green grass. When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place. There is always food, water, and warm spring weather. The old and frail are young again. Those who are maimed are made whole again. They play all day with each other. There is only one thing missing. They are not with their special person who loved them on Earth. So, each day, they run and play until the day comes when one suddenly stops playing and looks up. The nose twitches! The eyes are staring! This one suddenly runs from the group. You have been seen, and, when you and your special friend meet, you take him or her into your arms and embrace. Your face is kissed again and again and again, and you look once more into the eyes of your trusting pet. Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together, never to be separated. -- Author Unknown

So this is where we part, My Friend, and you'll run on, around the bend, gone from sight, but not from mind, new pleasures there you'll surely find.
I will go on, I'll find the strength, life measures quality, not its length. One long embrace before you leave, share one last look, before I grieve.
There are others, that much is true, but they be they, and they aren't you. And I, fair, impartial, or so I thought, will remember well all you've taught.
Your place I'll hold, you will be missed, the fur I stroked, the nose I kissed. And as you journey to your final rest, take with you this...I loved you best. -Jim Willis

It was a day or so before the new year, I was on my way to work. In front of me was a white suburban, with a sticker in the right hand corner of the back widow. I BELIEVE, it read. I don’t know if it was because the year was ending, A time set a side usually for reflection of the past year, with an inspiring hope of healthy and happy year to come. Maybe just the holidays in general, when we think of families, friends and loved ones….those who have touched our hearts and those we have lost along the way. Whatever the reason was, I BELIEVE was stuck in my mind . Then it moved to my heart. It was late afternoon, when Tiny was born. She was one of five pups that entered the world that day. At not quite 3oz, she came out like a ball of fire, kicking the whole time. She had one black ear and a small band of black at the base of her tail. I knew the moment she was born, “I have to keep her “ I told my husband. In a blink of an eye, this little creature I cradled in hand, stole my heart. My small companion died this past November….but, I still find myself looking for her, when all the dogs rush in from the outside. Counting heads I’m always short one. In my mind, I can still hear howling at me every morning, asking me to pick her up. If my eyes are closed, I can still see her stealing the ripe tomatoes from the vine, always careful to leave the green ones. She stayed 5 short years. However, in my heart, she is still very much a live. I see her and feel her love in all she left behind. I see her face her son. I feel her love still, when he crawls up in my lap and melts in my arms the way she always did. It always amazes me how someone or something can pass through a persons’ life leaving this everlasting impression. Sometimes, briefest encounters can have leave greatest impact. If you look carefully, you realize the gifts they give or leave behind, can be boundless. A life full of love, a mind full of memories and yet, they ask nothing. But, you find yourself wanting to give them everything. I believe…there is a reason for everything, even if I don’t always understand. I believe…in the saying that God protects dogs, fools and little children, so I shouldn’t worry so much. I believe…He knew I would give you all my love, and I did. Good bye Tiny Dancer
